A Business Intelligence System (BIS) utilizes a set of technologies and applications to facilitate intelligent business decisions. As such, a BIS can also be called a decision support system (DSS). BI applications provide historical, current and predictive perspectives of business operations; these commonly include OLAP (Online analytical processing), statistical analysis, data mining, business performance management, benchmarking and predictive analytics.
